How are Barracuda Kayaks made?
Our kayaks are produced by using a process called vacuum forming or thermoforming. Essentially, we heat up a large sheet of plastic and vacuum it onto a mould.

Our own blend of high impact, UV resistant plastic that is in the same family as polycarbonate bullet proof plastic.
How does this material / Manufacturing process compare to other kayaks?
The vacuum forming process we use to manufacture the Barracuda Kayaks produces a much lighter, stiffer and durable kayak, without sacrificing aesthetics. Barracuda Kayaks are in a league of their own, with the following factors that contribute to our success; lightweight making it easy to lift on and off your car and results in a fast and manoeuvrable ride. Our kayaks resistant to abrasion, have a gloss finish, excellent manoeuvrability, fantastic stability, all are UV resistant, strength and durability are outstanding.
How do I maintain my kayak?
As with any watercraft, it should be washed down with fresh water after use concentrating water around moving parts like the rudder assembly and foot pedals.
How do I store my kayak?
To allow the kayak to “breathe”, store the kayak with the neoprene hatch covers and plastic hatches released. Release bungs and hatches…dont forget to put them back on/in when you head out next
